A website in which players compete, game show style, in order to win cash and prizes. Weekly/Daily events would be time based, and contestants would be selected randomly. Non-participants would be able to watch the virtual competitions take place and get a feel for the games. Games could range from the Price-is-Right style to trivia. Since there is potential to win money, by playing for free, this would keep users regularly interested in the site. Revenues would come from advertising and prize sponsors. An established monopoly or oligopoly in this could be huge. If too difficult to operate in a web-based form, perhaps a free software platform would be necessary.
Just thinking about how TV gameshows are on the way out and this could be a good time to jump in the internet game show market.
there are lots of games you can play online, it's about time we have one where you can actually win something.
how would you get sponsors to support your idea? Would there be huge ads that pop up, kind of like Pogo.com? How do you see this working?
Since the game shows would be live, and in real time, we could pause the games for 20 seconds for brief ads. Also prizes themselves would be from sponsors, the so the mention of a prize would be promotion for them.
In poker communities this has already happened to some degree. I think watchers should definitely have to be able to see the players through video to make things more real and lively. Speculating data from GUI is not enough to attract... advertisements should be placed reasonably in between matches so they wouldn't startle "the thrill" in the middle of things. System design into very intuitive is essential to attract speculators and especially sponsors with them
There's already a game show platform where you can play online game shows and compete with your friends. On amuso.com you can create video and photo contests and take home real prizes. Check it out!
good idea good luck
