I think web 2.0 and CH are the missing link for ordinary people to contribute meaningfully in the new ways of creating wealth in this so called new economy.

The Idea

In depth comments on the pages as you browse Amazon and Blogs have allowed comments with great success but most web pages and news articles do not allow positive or negative comments or bug reports and do not allow people to show visitors to those sites about related content. This changes all of that. It's a browser toolbar that you click on when browsing a site and it pops up a related window for that URL alongside your browser. In the related window, which serves content from a central server, there is a comment and bug report thread for the URL you are currently viewing. Comments can be voted up or down so that you can see the best ones. The page you are viewing could be for a product and the comment page could point you to where you could buy it for less, praise about the product or a link to the manual if there isn't one on the original page. If there are already comments about the page, the browser bar highlights this and a setting could auto pop the page if required

I thought of this idea when I was...

Realising that this is an easy way to add flexibility, missing content, and insider info to a page, like a wiki but without the original site being turned into a wiki and control being lost.

How does it make money?
First off the companion page could be customised and templated by the site owner, for a fee.
Secondly, the site owner could register to receive alerts when a new
comment is added, for a fee (like blog comment notification)
Third, the site owner could pay to have some editorial control.
Fourth, the comment page would be tagged as noindex nofollow but for a fee these could be changed so that the links on each page of the comment site pointing to the master site would be rated by search engines.

Oh yeah, and there's always adsense.

I had the same idea. It seems Alexa have done it to some degree:

I use stumbleupon and don't really see the similarity. The point of what I'm doing here is to have a dynamic window sitting alongside as you browse, possibly branded as the site and with the money making features I mentioned. The content on stumbleupon is unbranded and I can't see how you can have a series of ranked comments based around a URL.

I like the idea of a stumble upon message board for each page... as long as I dont have to leave the page to see it

An interesting idea, though your revenue scheme sounds a lot like extortion ("protection" money)
