You've landed in the archive of the Cambrian House community. We've kept some pages here for posterity but the community is no longer active. Now we market the technology that made our early crowdsourcing a success.
Can we help you get to Cambrian House the company? – Come on over.

The Cambrian House Crew
The very premise of the site causes it to attract a community made up of smart creative people with very few trolls. The signal-to-noise ratio is extremely high on this site, and that's no small feat on the internet todayMicco
Cambrian House began as a crowdsourcing community using a wisdom of crowds based approach to discover new business and technology ideas. These pages are being kept online as a technology demo to showcase Chaordix™.
Looking to harness the power of your crowd? Find out about Chaordix™ - technology that enables enterprises to get the most out of crowdsourcing.

For application developers who need a pure java 3D physics engine the JPE is a great alternative to existing C engines that delivers the same functionality in their favourite language, object oriented. Unlike C engines our product is object oriented, easy to be integrated.
Develop a proprietary 3D engine in java to be used mainly in applications for limited capability devices like phones but not limited to them.
Java is already in the game market and it's a shame there is no quality physics engine.
searching for such an engine... there is no such thing. Work is in progress for porting a C engine (ODE), but a new OO engine should be done.
well then go for it
Tommy
i'm looking for supporters :)
what about the java 3d (sun library)
ok not only 3d but physics, for devices with small footprint
nice utility. But sorry man am not a techie in Java
not a 3d engine, but a 3d physics engine. if you can find one, great, lemme know cause i didn't manage to do that :)
also, small footprint is the main target. I really believe in this :)
Sounds like a good idea; I'm afraid I'm not in the right place to offer support though. My physics is great, but my Java skills are somewhat lacking... Good luck with it anyway!
revolutionary...watch out for BIll Gates!
Maybe Microsoft would support your idea.
you very much convinced me to do this :). i'm kinda disappointed it this idea didn't rank better :)
The world needs this!
This may be good as a teaching resource, but in my own experience as a researcher in theoretical physics until recently, many academics still use Fortran and would be reluctant to change. A colleague of mine who is a physicist and a techie spent a long time writing programmes in C++, only to conclude eventually that the extra time spent on object orientation wasn't really worth it, and the Fortran quick and dirty approach is usually best. Teaching and visualisation is a different matter, though, and a single comprehensive resource could be very valuable if the interface was designed for non-Java techies.
Open a sourceforge project and get going! :) Post a link when your source forge project is approved.
"Microsoft would support your idea." What was that a joke. They are against each other competitively.
A 3d engine and or 3d physics engine in java would be hard to make.
Considering how slow Java is with that type of work. This is one of the reasons why there are ports.
I also know I have seen some pure Java engines floating around not sure if they were ever open sourced. So, this has been done and possibly there is a open source version.
Also, if all you need is a particle system there is one free for personal use at: http://www.indietechnologies.com
But it is not intended to be a full physics system no IK, no rag doll, etc...
..agrees with fullmentaljacket!
Why would you do a propriety engine and not open source? Seems to me you could get much greater support for development if open.
Got something to say?
