Hello!

You've landed in the archive of the Cambrian House community. We've kept some pages here for posterity but the community is no longer active. Now we market the technology that made our early crowdsourcing a success.

Can we help you get to Cambrian House the company? – Come on over.

Cambrian House

Crowdsourcing represents the act of a company or institution taking a function once performed by employees and outsourcing it to an undefined (and generally large) network of people in the form of an open call.
Jeff Howe, Jun 2006

Cambrian House began as a crowdsourcing community using a wisdom of crowds based approach to discover new business and technology ideas. These pages are being kept online as a technology demo to showcase Chaordix™.

Looking to harness the power of your crowd? Find out about Chaordix™ - technology that enables enterprises to get the most out of crowdsourcing.

The Idea

Instead of playing boring classical music on hold, companies would partner with this company to provide an entertaining experience while being on hold. The system would allow the user to listen to current news, stock quotes, weather, traffic reports, or customized music while on hold, and play targeted advertisements as well. The ads would be targeted based on a combination of caller location as discovered from callerid and what kind of things the user preferred to listen to. If the user chose stock quotes, he/she would receive targeted ads for finance related companies.

I thought of this idea when I was...

... sitting on hold, bored, thinking "this could be a lot more fun".
