A game targeted for the casual gaming market: Pond hockey. It's a simple, fun, and addicting hockey game that is easily accessable to avid gamers and casual gamers alike. The game pits teams of 2 players (plus their goalies) against each other in a no rules, all out game of hockey set on a pond in the middle of winter. The game will be full of laughs, utilizing wacky characters to play.
This game can easily be sold online, playable on both Mac and PC, with networking capabilities to play against each other online. Also, (as my initial target) this game will also be made available for download and playable locally and online via the Xbox Live Arcade service. If technology allows, it could also be sold on the various portable Nintendo platforms.
Other play modes besides the basic hockey game will be available as well, such as Free-For-All, etc.
I was playing NHL 2005 with my wife and her 2 brothers, playing the Big Head Free-For-All mode and we were just having a blast with it (we were up until 2:00am playing it). I realized how much fun a simple game like that can be, and how much replay value something like that has. Later on I remembered an old classic game, Ice Hockey for the NES, and thought it would add even more fun to take the elements of the various sizes of players of that game and mix it with the chaos from the Free-For-All mode in NHL 2005, but instead, make it in an outdoor setting. Hence, Pond Hockey was formed.
id certainly give it a go. a portable version would be great.
Sounds like a great idea. :) A breath of fresh air in a genre that is sorely lacking in diversity. Pond Hockey is such a simple concept, I think it would really go over well. :)
Great Idea. Give some of us reminders of our past and allow others to experience one of the best games ever played
This idea is really great. Unlike most games that have wacky characters, this game has a point, and it's fun. I can't wait to play it.
I'm also open to any additional ideas people may want to add. I have done my research on creating a successful Xbox Live Arcade game and know the basics of what needs to be implemented into the game in order for it to be approved by Microsoft and for it to sell really well:
1) Multiplayer over live (and Local)
2) possibilities for downloadable content
3) be under 50 mb (preferably)
4) Casual - pick up and play games
So if anybody has and great ideas that can fit in this structure, feel free to contribute.
It would be great to have a couple of character versions of each of the 3 types (skinny, normal and fat).
Off course, customising the clothes or the team logo would be really cool. (you would feel more that its your own team)
I like this idea
I like the idea of customizing clothes and logos. And yes we will have various "skins" for each of the character types (hoping to have at least 15 skins for release, with downloadable content set for the future, content packs will include new skins, clothes, logos, rinks, etc).
Got something to say?
