Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.

The Idea

A website which is just like digg or reddit but includes only the rating platform not the actual topics for the content. Users can create their own pages for rating content in their topic of interest by other users (long tail). They can promote their page to the circles of people which share the specific interest with them. All these pages are hosted on the site for free. It is easy to set up a new customized page on your topic of interest. Owners can moderate their page too if they want to. The pages should be organized in a hierarchy of subjects and the site can also be searched for content on specific topics. How to monetize it? Targeted ads per subject page (possibly share revenue with users and let them choose the ads). Possibilly premium memberships. Possibilly users can pay a small fee to have their page hosted on your own site instead of on this site.

I thought of this idea when I was...

Combination of yahoo groups, digg and myspace.

Hi Kleine2,

have you hear about http://ning.com already ?
It's a site where people can make custom social web app in a snap. You can also clone from anyone's site.
They have different categories, one of them is to make Review applications. Have a look at http://reviewit.ning.com/

Totally different. I am talking about a web site for end users (powered by the platform). Also this is for reviews I am talking about ranking articles.

Why not just digg your own blog/myspace/etc page?
