Roguestar.tv is a social network built upon a filesharing network designed for the use of Filmmakers, Animators, Musicians, Graphic Designers, and Writers. By giving these 5 groups a place that is designed exclusively around their needs and the ability to share files with each other the creative possibilities are endless.
Some additional features to be incorporated into the site.
Google Map Api- Integrated into the dashboard users will be able to see what is going on in their local area not only within their scene but within other scenes as well.
Targeted Rss Feed- Also integrated into the dash board users will be able to see what other users are looking for within their field. I.E. Musician can create a post seeking cover art in the style of ___ Or a filmmaker is looking for ___ music to score a scene, etc.
Unique Java Profile- Think Gmail meets social network. Each category gets it's own tab. Bio, Gallery, merch, Collaborative work. IM/filesharing integrated into profile.
at SES 2007 in San Jose when I thought how cool it would be if Myspace or Youtube had a filesharing feature built into the site. I realized however that it would not be possible because of the broad demographics of these sites. I am an independent filmmaker however who makes music videos. So I narrowed down what makes up all of traditional media and applied that to independent media, started mashing up all of the existing technologies to create what could become the next evolution for independent artists in the Digital age.
As it stands right now, Independent media has made great strides with the internet, but is also very bogged down by "other" content in the user-generated world. If you were to create a space that is dedicated to independents and their ability to share files could one argue that it could become to the internet what the television is to the person on the couch?
For previous discussion of this idea please check out the last time I entered http://www.cambrianh...er/ideas-id/xGFCZDf/
what has changed? i need the coals notes
nothing has changed really, it took a bit of getting used to the idea the last time I submitted it but the only thing that was brought up that seemed to be a debate point was whether or not it should be invite only.
Once the point that this network is a mash up of a lot of the other niche networks out there and that it is built upon a file sharing system started to catch on, no one suggested anything that needed to be changed.
I love the idea and I believe it is already working in New Zealand. Why don't people add to someone else's work and then viewers can vote on that section. The winner keeps their place and the next person adds onto it again and the process continues! This is definitely a goer! We should also talk about creative entrepreneurship!
Great idea. But dito about creative types. Nevertheless, great luck to you.
