The Idea
I'd love to see a functioning secret society, running on the web. Invite-only, strict disclosure rules, sms-notified passwords, in-house favours between members, secret codes/symbols on merchandise, special sponsor deals only for society members, punishment for members who break the rules, moving log-in page. It would spawn a whole culture of people trying to become members. Nothing seedy or criminal, but just a modern secret society, running on the web. Merchandizing with subtle symbols so you can recognize other members when you see them. Members in particular areas could organize meetings. Corporate sponsors could agree to give special deals to society members.
