The Idea
An online matching site for entrepreneurs and angel investors. This concept is designed for entrepreneurs with business ideas of all types, from manufacturing to hospitality, and from all parts of the globe. Entrepreneur profiles will include details such as background, education and experience. Concept profiles include business and marketing plans. Social network-style tools and functionality encourage feedback and support from community members. Access to the site, viewing of ideas, and matching services are restricted to serious entrepreneurs and investors through paid membership fees. As with conventional matching services, the main source of revenue is payment of a percentage of the investment made from each resulting match.

I thought of this idea when I was...
We spent years looking for the right investor for our coffee bar business in the Netherlands. With no luck. Despite having paid to join several conventional matching services & investment networks. We developed this idea last Fall. We were inspired by the successes and innovations offered by Web 2.0 and the flattening of the World. We believe that investors are interested in strong entrepreneurs, wherever they may be.

This is a great idea as it certainly will make the first contact with possible interested parties a lot easier. The actual negotiations to broker a deal like that will still be the same though I think, though both parties may know more about the other before negotiations start as they can look for compatible partners via the network.
The idea is also to create a community of entrepreneurs. A benefit of this is that you have experience in the group that can help newer entrepreneurs with this sort of negotiation. Having been through the search for investors, I can tell you that some sound advice could have been very helpful...

This sounds quite a bit like a number of other CH ideas. I've mentioned before that I think http://www.fundinguniverse.com/ does a pretty good job of what you describe.
