The Idea

You can find your friends easily enough in cyberspace: you have their blog RSS URL, their IM handle and their Skype ID. But what about in the real world? Have you ever had that experience in "meat space" where you were supposed to meet your pal/-s at the same concert or game, but your ideas of "to the left of the stage" or "by the main gate" weren't the same? And sometimes you were both there, but never knew it, and weren't you sorry you didn't get to meet up? As most of human existence is (sometimes regrettably) lived in "meat space", a way to find a real-world space to meet in is essential. Meet-space will let you transmit your current GPS coordinates to a shared network of friends. Events (such as gigs, sporting events and club meetups) could be set up for fixed dates. Imagine: flash mobs meet geocaching; spontaneous (or regular) outbreaks of salsa dancing (or 5-a-side football matches) in public spaces; or simply get instant group discounts for the Tivoli gardens!

I thought of this idea when I was...

Geocaching, and after I worked with a friend on a similar (but non-overlapping) concept.

Nide idea, but GPS doesn't work indoors so it should use GSM positioning instead. And isn't there software already out there that does this? At least there ought to be...
