Cambrianhouse has inspired me to become more professional and study a whole lot of new things, so now I am a lot more skilled and I think I may have landed a killer job at Electronic Arts, probably thanks to the mention of Gwabs

Cambrian House began as a crowdsourcing community using a wisdom of crowds based approach to discover new business and technology ideas. These pages are being kept online as a technology demo to showcase Chaordix™.

The Elevator Pitch

For poker enthusiasts who need funding or want to stake players for the World Series of Poker or other tournaments where there is a chance to win loads of cash that would otherwise be impossible to win. Unlike other poker tournament funding methods our product relies solely on community participation.

The Idea

I'm thinking along the lines of prosper.com. Anyone who wants to enter a legal casino poker tournament would be able to seek funding from the public. In exchange for putting up $, the funder would receive a % of the player's winnings. No winnings, no money back.

I thought of this idea when I was...

I wished there was a way for me to take part in the World Series of Poker. Between work and my personal life, making the trip to Vegas is not a possibility. But, by contributing to other players' entry fees, I would be able to participate in some way.

Need any contractual agreement?
Or, base on the magical trust?

This sounds so crazy. I mean I'd never invest $ in someone else's poker playing ability. And I presume if there was ever a site which would create legal hassles, and member-vs-member angst, this would be it.

But I like it.

Haha, I like it. As Gord said, crazy, and I couldn't see myself "investing" in someone else's playing ability. But really, would there be that much difference between this idea and betting on the horses?

As long as I get a percetage of your soul and 200% return on my money, I'm in.

Why would I let someone else gamble with my money?

I don't think prosper works well for lender either - but this has got to be worse! If you're crazy enough to fund a poker player without knowing him very well, you will lose and deserve to. If you do a lot of research, you can contact one yourself without the website.

Crazy is not good enough for this idea. CR4zZy is more like it. Why in the would would a gambler make such a poor decision ON top of a poor decision in the first place. What would they even get out of it? Not even having the fun of playing?

This actually has some potential. People are crazy enough to try it. I think you'd have to filter it to only poker players with a certain rating or something that shows they have skill. Not just anyone that wants to play poker.

I agree with TechGuy.

I think poker players should only be eligible for funding if they have a certain ranking or have won a certain amount on the various poker sites.
