Dash is doing this for car GPS-> http://gigaom.com/2007/12/16/inside-dash-web-20-thrives/
sends this idea to the deadpool....

Make a gateway for the MLS database and the FSBO.com site and develop a service to deliver property listings to the casual house hunter while he/she is driving around scouting neighborhoods.
I've used sites like Realtor.com when I was looking for my home and I ultimately ended up just driving the neighborhoods where I wanted to be. With GPS becoming prevalent on newer phones and the existence of location-based services API's for most legacy phones, I would think this would be a compelling service for the serious house hunters (ie. something people would pay a subscription for). Alternatively, you could make it freely available to the public and charge realtors premium listing fees but that would be a harder model to launch with.
Thinking about what a pain it was to find my house and how current mobile technologies could simplify things.
There is a big market in location based mobile applications. This is a great idea!
I like this as well, looking for a house could be much less painful
Good one.

I like this one also. But I would put it in the GPS system and GPS phones

Nice idea. Could hook into the car's GPS too so it comes up on the big screen incar rather than just the small mobile screen.
how many people look for houses using cell phones?? MLS is available online and via realtors, but full MLS is available only for licensed realtors.
Hooking up into a car's GPS is not required (and not possible). Many cell phones now have GPS built in, or some other fairly reasonable positioning system (there are several tower based ones). Cell phones do not have video outputs to connect to in-car GPS systems, and I have not seen one yet that has a video input. But CraigH is on the right track - what exactly will you be able to see on a puny screen of 240x240 pixels? you might see a house icon, but not much detail. even a QVGA won't yield a whole listing page, without a whole lot of scrolling. Something like a real portable web browser (RIM, Palm, PPC etc) might be able to handle it, as there are already real estate apps for those.
PWEDE!... I like it ok?
Correct me if am wrong, but isnt consent a big issue too? YOu know how i t can pester people with complaint due to unwanted post in his own mobile phone SMS advisory.
cool one
Great idea. There are a lot of homes in my area up for sale. I would love to be able to drive through a neighborhood, get an approximate GPS location of where I am and get a list of homes, say with in a mile of where I am.
Optionally, I would like to be able to enter an address. If I'm right in front of the house, I'd like to get all the details on the it right then and there. I hate having to bring a pad of paper and a pencil, write down the addresses and hop on some realty site going through each address one by one. Or the reverse, get a list of addresses that seem to be in the area and then drive around.
I think the user needs some way to turn the service on/off on demand or specify a location so the user only gets messages for areas they are interested in.
Got something to say?
