For music lovers who want to get a copy of the music they are hearing right now the blukebox is a music vending service point that provides immediate access to the material. Unlike waiting to download from home when they've forgotten the track name etc. our product gives people what they want immediately.
Many times people hear a song in a pub or bar and wish to own it, but forget by the time they get to their home or music shop what the track was.
This proposal is to develop an internet connected jukebox situated in pubs and bars that allows the customer to buy the track they have selected or are hearing in the bar.
The device needn't be limited to pubs and bars, but could be in any public space.
It would work particularly well in night clubs.
The track is delivered to a bluetooth compatible device in whatever format the customer desires, (mp3 etc.), and has no restrictions on its use.
I have been in this situation myself.
Great idea - it would also allow a much greater range f musin in pubs.
I've seen jukeboxes that are connected to the internet around for a while now(I know because I had this idea a few years ago and did quite a bit of research).
However I don't belive any of the ones I came across had this bluetooth/buying the track component you mentioned which I think is a good idea, although this was 4 or 5 years ago now so they may well have progressed by this point.
This would be perfect with the iPhone and Zune and all the next-gen portable music players building in networking capabilities.
I think you shouldn't use bluetooth. It's still too hard for most users. Instead I think you should tap into the mobile phone. User sends a text message and gets the music on the phone. Should be simple enough. I think Doymarn has worked on a phone payment system that might work for this.
I am concerned about whether the jukebox market is big enough for this. Maybe a nightclub would be a better market.
This is a good idea. I have been doing some work with Last.fm on the symbian platform and believe that it could form the basis for this. A prototype could be put together very quickly. Not quite sure how the billing would work though.
I cant tell you how many times I have wanted something like this. I dont think you would have to limit it to certain places or devices. You could even morph it into a service that allows you to quickly send a reminder of what the song was called, or a phrase in the song, or keywords, and save it for them to buy from your service later.
Love to see what it becomes.
http://www.shazam.com/ seem to have this pretty well sorted.
yep, that's it alright. I'm signing up as I type this!
Sounds like a very good idea!!
Buy a jukebox and get the records
much nice
t
so this is the new gen Jukebox somehting likean attachment/device to a soundbox or radio that search Engine (LIMEWIRE) AND MAKES your coice readily available in mp3 form?
very nice!
you could wimax pandora.com
Maybe you could build on the shazam concept. May it easier to download the track perhaps.
shazam is a good concept but as a customer I want the song ID info for free!
shazam looks like it cost 50p UK which is too much for me.
But hey - get the North American franchise for shazam right away, someone - there's gold in them thar hills. ;-)
I want the place that is playing the music to make it easy for me to find out what the music is.
Sometimes I want that information so I can launch an imaginary campaign against the song ever being played again lol
Oh I forgot to say, until the music indusrty gets its act together over realistic prices, DRM etc. A policy like
"... and has no restrictions on its use."
attractive though it sounds to music fans is only going to make money for lawyers.
Allan, I think you are assuming that this idea is for a download-the-music product.
I think the idea is a name-that-tune product. You get info on the name of the tune and the artist and then decide whether you want to go buy the music, in whatever form you like.
Hum. sounds impractical to install a big enough base to make itself useful and make people aware of it, no?
Why not have a service which allows people to record sound through their phones (or whatevers) and either send via phone (mms or 3G in europe, edge in the US i think?) or upload via computer to an app that does sound regonition and at least narrows the tune down.
not at elegant as your solution, and not as accurate, but at least moves much of the hard work onto software instead of hardware upgrades distrubuted over a ton of manufacturers.
Got something to say?
