Cambrian House

Mistakes will be made. But if a person is essentially right, the mistakes he or she makes are not as serious in the long run as the mistakes management will make if it undertakes to tell those in authority exactly how they must do their jobs.
William McKnight, 3M

Cambrian House began as a crowdsourcing community using a wisdom of crowds based approach to discover new business and technology ideas. These pages are being kept online as a technology demo to showcase Chaordix™.

Looking to harness the power of your crowd? Find out about Chaordix™ - technology that enables enterprises to get the most out of crowdsourcing.

The Elevator Pitch

For the Cambrian House who needs to find an Investment & Revenue generation model for the potential ideas that are generated by the wonderful members of its community. The CH Investment & Revenue Services is a tool that can help generate $$$ and invest in all ideas. Unlike a user interested in funding only a particular idea our product helps in maintaining a uniform process and model of investment for all potential business ideas.

The Idea

Create CH Investment & Revenue services
Investment Arm
The CH creates an Investment Banker Account. Users go in and donate $ (anywhere between $20 to $20,000 & no Cambros). The CH Investment arm takes this pooled money and invests in markets like Stocks, shares, mutual funds, bonds etc that yield a steady rate, with the help of professional investment advice.
This yielded money will be used by CH to fund ideas that can potentially generate business and the donors (all of them) become shareholders/stakeholders of the all businesses that receive the funding. The advantage is that a donor can become stakeholder in to more than one idea/business because the stake/share holding is determined by their donation and not any particular idea they like to fund.
Revenue Generation
The CH community generates whole lot of ideas each day. Why not have a few dedicated Sales guys who read the ideas and sell them to corporations? The revenue share can be ploughed back into CH to fund its ideas

I thought of this idea when I was...

All of you guys. Thanks for the inspiration.

angelic crowd?

Well the Angelic crowd focusses more on making an Idea into reality through a vehicle of fund management and overall management.
My idea differs in a few ways - We dont get into any sort of idea filtering & managing space. I mean CH Investment Banker will be a division only floating and creatin wealth within the CH community. Therefore, the In the whole process of idea becoming reality we drive only the monetary cycle through the above stated intention.
Secoundly, I think i need to modify the whole concept above to suit what i am thiking.

We are only focussed on money flow within and outside of CH through the value what CH generates each day

Are there any regulatory huddles to doing something like this, SEC rules, etc....?

I suppose few rules would apply. However, I dont see any complexity.

Sounds like mutual funds and e*trade.

I am not sure if i understand exactly how this would be practically implemented. it sounds like that is a large component of this idea, as you need immediate critical mass to get it going.

It's not a bad idea as such. Let those that wish but are not into stocks etc. pitch in smaller amounts, then let a volunteer and capable CH group invest and use brokers to create revenue. The revenue then goes into funding ideas from those that pitched in and became champions?

No?

Who would be responsible for managing the investments, selling ideas, etc? What would they get out of the scheme? How would you pay for that?

torgrot - Yes that right.

PhilipH - The CH community need to create a professional group of people to manage this and we need to pay a fee to them.
