The Idea

The idea is as such:

-Recording various street people playing music - from all over the world - both in CD and video format.

-Tour of various cities (Chicago, New York, California, Madison, WI - in "college town", etc.)

-Maybe even make a movie/documentary.

-Speak to them/interview

-Can make a reality television show in which you have a contest to gather the best street musicians together and make a band or the best street musician band, and where they would get an opportunity to record and sell their music.

I thought of this idea when I was...

The idea was born out of simply being amazed - as well as my children (4-year old daughter; 12-year old son) - at some street musicians in downtown Chicago playing on the PVC pails and just cranking out the rhythmical jams! I really wondered if they are that good, why aren't they doing anything else, or are they? Or perhaps they don't know what to do with that talent (or don't care)?

I have also seen other really good talent at other public places as well - airports, small downtown areas in small towns, etc. - playing a variety of instruments (saxophone, clarinet, violin, drums, guitar, singing, etc.) - and I am just amazed at the talent.

Easy to do, make a website with links to http://www.youtube.com/ and do it.
There's loads of talent in the street.

I agree with Vanhees. A good model to work from is JetSetShow.com. Get yourself a pretty girl to introduce the videos, and a videographer to put them all together in a viral video format. There are plenty of free tools to make this happen, including YouTube, Blogger, Ning, etc.

I would also recommend including the Kids of Widney High in your idea. These kids are GREAT! http://www.kidsofwidneyhigh.com

well try this at your own risk.... but you can try first honing your idea by weighing the comments to come frm this day onward =)

Will the musicians also share in the profits from sales of the cd's? (i.e. receive royalties)

or (add this to the comment of VanHees) on websites like http://www.SheezyArt.com

that'd be great - if you gave those that you recorded a stake in whatever profits you could manage to reap.
