The Idea

A back pack style strap for laptop and tablet computers. Rather than have a carrying case there would be a universal velcro strap for laptop computers. This could be a great intrest to persons who use PC tablets because they become heavy to carry after a while. Its also a cost cutting measure but not intended to replace carrying cases.

I thought of this idea when I was...

The idea comes from the handles some gamers have on their PCs when attending LAN parties. I thought of the application more when I noticed my little brother gets tired carring around the laptop his school assigned him. Also, the school couldnt afford to get him a carrying case.
I also attended an auto show where a speaker was gathering information on her PC tablet. She mentioned that it was heavy to carry after a while.

The product might be useful but I'm not convinced by the way you're trying to sell it. Carrying the laptop by a strap won't (significantly) reduce its weight compared to carrying it in a proper case, and the case provides more protection.

What the strap will do is, as described on the site Tommy found, make carrying the laptop on the occasions one can't be bothered with the full case safer. For this application, it's important that it's easier to attach the laptop to the strap than put it in the case - this isn't necessarily the case with the straps shown on the site!

NB that site does sell shoulder straps as a separate accessory to add to the carrying handles.

vanhees thanks for pointing the straps out. Upon hearing corporate_hipster's idea I thought... hey that would be pretty cool. Usually though it would be inappropriate... I'd need to haul a power supply and mouse too. But on occasion it might come in handy.

My HEAD is my system protection. When I slip and fall, I use my skull to absorb the impact of the fall, and protect my precious precious laptop.
