The Idea

Disclaimer: This is a very raw idea... but I thought I would post it anyway...
-----------------------
Are you like me, lost with so many usernames and passwords from a bunch of websites?

I don't even know anymore to which sites I've registered! It's really confusing.

I would like a website that manages my passwords and usernames, and that can easily help me delete accounts when I'm not interested anymore.

I guess it could be in a form of a plugin into Firefox which , when activated, detects the username and password I chose for the website I'm signing up to. It would take that info into my personal profile.

The website could offer another service that is a Rank of Internet Services. The most used services in separate categories would go to the top. There could be tags also...

Revenue model: advertisement

I thought of this idea when I was...

frustrated with so many forgotten passwords...

There are a few sites that do this. I just can't think of them right now. But I think you're barking up the right tree. Provide a social network portal. I'm sure there's plenty of room for services like these!

It would be cool if it aided you in replicating information in an automated fashion. For example copying over common things such as my general biography and the like.

This has potential. I think someone put up a similar idea.

I think like AndyDoan and Maurreen that there are both sites and ideas like this, but don't remember. I think Rizal will tell you!!

Can't our browsers do things iike tracking user id and passwords for us already?

Rizal
Rizal Posted: May 7, 2007, 2:59 am

Hehe Sajjadi you are right :)

You know that why have all these passwords or login.. OPEN ID and such companies wants to change this with a single sign in login . like a passport. you have your own personal URL that you login with..

http://www.openid.net wants to implement this to all sites. As microsoft, digg, netvibes, wordpress and other big companies are implementing this to their sites...

imagine no more loginnames. or hassle passwords...

oh yeah one more thing.

on hypesphere.com we want to aggregate all your socialnetworks to our site so you can easily see your sites on your profile so its easy to navigate around.. and you can share these with your friends and other so that they can see what sites that can befriend you :)

http://www.hypesphere.com coming soon ;)

(My own marketing campaign on CH)

Cool idea!
I had the same one...
This one you already know - http://www.cambrianh.../page/1/isList/true/' target='_blank'>http://www.cambrianh.../page/1/isList/true/
Exactly the same idea as yours, the only difference: this is not a website but a program - http://www.cambrianh.../page/1/isList/true/' target='_blank'>http://www.cambrianh.../page/1/isList/true/

A service that is about to launch but is in beta right now that acts as a consolidation of all those sites you mentioned is http://www.zude.com.

It goes a lot further than that, but its got your idea in there.

Thanks for the feedback guys! This really isn't an idea I would personally be interested in getting out of the paper but I think I did the right thing putting it here. Good to see that there are some services already and new ones coming into play. If anyone else wishes to run with this idea, be my guest... just gimme some RP and it's all fine... ;)

can I ask why u don't just use one password?

AdvocatusDiaboli
AdvocatusDiaboli Posted: May 8, 2007, 7:41 pm

I think I didn't explain myself correctly... it's more then the passwords, it's REMEMBERING where the hell I have accounts!

There are so many startups popping up, I sign up to so many each month, that I can't remember where I'm leaving info about myself.. it's starting to bug me.

And why not use 1 password: security. if someone figures that out u r toast

Quim Posted: May 23, 2007, 11:53 pm

I have the same problem.
I use a unique login and password for every site I sign up.
But there's a lot of sites!!! I can't remember its all.
There are some sites that I create my login and never came back again...
I agree with your idea.

(but it will be one more account to set up!)
