The Idea

I have been reading alot about small businesses that are focusing on creating and marketing green products to consumers and other businesses. What if small businesses could put their products and services on a classified site but heres the difference. The site will allow them to create a profile explaining your business just like myspace. But unlike myspace you can sell your products through an auction format like ebay, online retail style, or barter. You will also be able to add other freinds that are on the network and invite others.

I thought of this idea when I was...

Watch out, ebay is building social networking into their site.

I think the way to differentiate this from what ebay is doing is to focus solely on local businesses. Then the resource you are offering is a political one: the assurance that people are buying from businesses they believe in. Stores could get points verifying various things like selling fair trade or having health insurance.

It has potential. Have you researched to see if there is competition?

So far it's just an idea. I would have to do alot of research in order to make it work. Thanks for the comment.

Very similar to MerchantCircle.com but just all green.

Also thought that people could add video ads to their listings in order to tell people more about their products and get more interest.
