Just not that excited about this idea anymore- could achieve the same thing by rolling a dice when going to lunch...
Every day thousands of colleagues ask the ritual question "where do you want to go to lunch?" How many hours collectively are wasted from people saying "I dunno, where do you wanna go?" We need an app that incorporates social networking and makes definitive, quick decisions on the choice of lunchtime venue. SealTheMeal should take into account the prior day's food selection, prohibitive food restrictions from group members like vegetarianism and proximity to the place of work to suggest the lunch spot of the day. There are all kinds of advertising opportunities and subscription services that can be built around this portal once it becomes popular. There is also the opportunity to use collaborative filtering to intelligently suggest new recommendations to members based on histories of like-minded individuals.
I've worked in too many offices where this problem was a daily occurrence. We developed an app called the "Old Dirty B*stard Foodfinder" at one place to be the decisive lunch determinant. ODBFoodfinder could be considered the prototype but SealTheMeal must be much more robust in accounting for multiple instances and social networkring features. Gimme a doughnut if you build it and it becomes popular.
I think this could be fun.
It would end lots of "didn't we eat there last week?" stuff, too!
Should be online website with no need for each colleague to intall it. Each person should be able to quickly state their preferences for the day (possitive and negative) and the history of prior days could be taken into account. Lots of details to think about but it's a good idea.
