A site that pulls together sites that do specific things around one topic. Its like a link round up of all the best sites that have a specific feature you are looking for. For example you are looking for a site that dose it will pull up links to the best unique implementations.
*Short Review
*Easy to get to link
*Image preview of what the feature topic is on the sites.
Update:
This idea also will apply to other areas like web developers and people designing things. Since, they are always looking for good quality examples.
Interesting. Kind of like a Web-Ring 2.0 Could be good.
Would this just be hooked up sort of like Digg, where users add the content? Or would it be about an intelligent spider finding the relationships automatically? Or both?
Not like dig. All of the sites of the featured topic are are grouped on one page. With totally different organization.
hmm... so more like an alltop or popurls for webservices instead of blogs?
Kind of but, not quite. Its more like a reference you know how artists keep a variety of items of property's and elements of design they like on hand? Its like that but for web services.
I guess I need more concrete examples to understand the idea.
The logo looks heavy to me, if that makes any sense to you. Try different colors maybe.
I will try to post an example in a bit.
Well, its not really a true logo more of just a random image I made, but I changed a bit anyways just for you. =)
use http://www.netvibes.com/ and create a universe, works for me...
I like it. Simple but nice.
Vanhees it has nothing to do with personalized home pages.
Sounds good, and I could see value in this even for myself. Kevin did you want to try provide 3 sample web sites and how you'd tag them?
Oh and I'm not sure how changing websites would be handled. Maybe a site has a feature in 2007 but it gets dropped in 2008. Also, reading your idea a 2nd time, I guess I assumed it was about software features... like here's a site that has dragging-and-dropping of shopping cart items. Maybe you're not thinking along those lines, so some sample "Specific Things" might be way different from what I'm thinking.
The original idea was based on things like. If you like this site you would also like these sites or if you are looking for something to do "Bla bla bla" for you here is where you should look. As far as changing websites. Simple report outdated link button.
Software features. I agree, that that would be a nice function as well for web developers. As, far as outdated links on that I would simple post a cache image of the page. I am interested in that area as well.
"specific things around one topic"
"a specific feature"
"it"
"the feature topic"
"the feature topic"
"Bla bla bla"
...am I the only one wondering what exactly I might be looking for on this site? Can we have an actual example please? Sites with related content? Do you mean a design feature like layout or use of fonts? Some sort of interface feature that makes a site particularly easy to use? Other sites that people who have visited site X also like?
Kevin: after reading the comments you've added, and seeing things develop I've bumped up my vote on this one to 5 Stars! I really like the idea of this sort of meta-site that lets me find other sites. I picture a site profile page with a tag cloud, and a user interface for the community to tag the sites. Then I set up a profile or something with the tags and tools I'm into, and add others I use, and it suggests similar stuff. That sound about what you are aiming for?
like wikipedia external links? like dmoz?
this seems unclear.
Sounds like Clusty.com
Got something to say?
