The very premise of the site causes it to attract a community made up of smart creative people with very few trolls. The signal-to-noise ratio is extremely high on this site, and that's no small feat on the internet today

The Idea

A site for people to auction off access to their slingbox. . FYI, A slingbox is a new type of tv set-top box that lets people send their home tv signals to their personal computers and laptops.

I thought of this idea when I was...

Wanting to watch my hometown sports teams that I still root for even though I live somewhere else. . Note, you wouldn't be able to beam a blacked out game to the city where it is blacked out, as per NFL regulations.

Why do you need a special website to do this, why not just use ebay?

1. Desnity of listings.
2.Nobody is searching at ebay for slingbox feeds so no one would find it.
3. Ability to swap feeds without payment.
4. Focused support for slingbox users.
5. A community of slingbox afficianados.
6. Publicity. It will generate press because networks might not like it. It is a firestorm waiting to happen.
7. It generates revenue for us and not for ebay.
8. Might be against ebays policy.

Not only would I do it, I have been searching all day for a way to do it. Some people just want to watch network TV in other markets. I have ABC Ny and LA on my directTV, but can't get any others.
