The Idea

For anyone who has a hard time keeping track of product or service warranties, guarantees, and instructions Warrantd offers a safe online place to bring order to the chaos.

Unlike a paper filing system, Warrantd is completely free, and it offers helpful reminders, easy online access, and a way to lay your hands on exactly what you need when you need it, saving time and money, and hassle.

I thought of this idea when I was...

It all started with a cheapo plastic Home Depot garden sprayer. I needed to use the sprayer for the first time in a year or so. I found it, rinsed it out poured in the liquid and… nothing. It didn’t work.

The sprayer couldn’t have been more than three or fours old. It was probably still under warranty. Now (cue Regis Philbin’s excitable-annoyed voice) if I could only find the warranty!

Truth is, I would probably have a hard time laying my hands on any warranty or guarantee for almost anything in my house; the washer, the muffler job on the old car, the computer I’m writing this on. I certainly wish that they were all carefully organized, never mind the number of them.

There had to be a better way.

And then it occurred to me, clear as a bell when I was at Home Depot looking at new garden sprayers. There was. Heck if Flickr can store and track gajillions of photos, certainly there had to be a way to do the same for product and service warranties, guaranties and instructions.

Or at least a system where you enter in the product and the date when the warranty is due to expire. Then you can immediately see if the warranty has expired and you won't waste your time finding the paperwork.
