The Idea

My idea is a Facebook application where beer-drinkers could select all the different types beer that they've tasted before. Once the user has selected a beer, a picture of the bottle would then be shown on the "canvas page" of the application. On the user's main profile page, they could select up to 3 of their favorite beers to display to their friends. Of course, as users added beers to their pages, a notice would be broadcast to the user's friends, which would help to virally spread the application throughout the social graph. The monetization would come through the standard Facebook ad revenue models.

I thought of this idea when I was...

Remembering back to a college apartment that had a shelf that displayed the coolest empty beer bottles that they had tried. It also seem like a simple way to capitalize on the popularity of the Facebook application platform.

I'm posting new startup ideas to my blog again over at http://www.astartupaday.com - 110 ideas and counting!

I think FB might be the right venue for this, why not start an FB group and see what kind of membership you can get? Not much for crowdsourcing if it flies on Facebook. Good Luck!

Why just facebook? I think its a great idea but why just take one user network. If you hosted this yourself, and gave code for people to post in their "profiles" on facebook, myspace, etc., you could make it available to all cummunitys. Just an idea. I love it though.

Sounds inspired,

In my opinion http://www.diageo.com could use a bit of this sort of inspiration in their advertising campaigns. I would at least TM this idea ASAP.

Good Luck
