The Idea
I suggest creating marketing site that host innovation contest/ events which are sponsor by different big wigs each time. E.g. Nike sponsor a design contest for a new T-shirt it plans to produced in 3 months time. We will notify our members as well as advertise on other sites of the event. Anyone can register as a member and submit their original designs.
To vote for their favorite designs, members must PURCHASE them! They get another 5-star to vote for 5 other designs or on their favorite. However, if their chosen designs failed to garner critical mass as stipulated by Nike, they will have full refund. No limit on number of PURCHASE or submissions one can make. Prize include most commercially viable (purchases), popular (stars), aesthetic (like how America Idol works)
Participants gain fame, opportunities, cash and chance to hone one’s skills in big events. Sponsors gain CrowdNovation (crowd innovation),brand equity and awareness, guarantee sales as winners are chosen by purchase...

Reading on crowdsourcing in E-PRENUR by Richard J.Goossen, Phd though I just flip it thru.
That's actually how I came to know about this site, I actually remember chanced upon a site with similar theme but not sure if its the same company. Well, @ least this time, I remember the URL this time.

Current crowdsourcing model use either willingness of web users to share and/ or slowing build up fame within community for future (commercial) break. However, little compensation are in place for them as most of these sites generate revenue sources mostly/ solely from traffic/ advertisements.
As witness in dot-com burst, only business with a working revenue model will works, Cambrian House and NowPublic are all trying to reward their users with more revenue, fame, startup fund and profit sharing.
