http://www.sockpocketorganizer.com/
This laundry sock pocket organizer is an apparatus that will functionally keep garments together such as socks, in a net like laundry bag.
There are individual pockets through out the bag that will hold pairs of socks. This laundry sock pocket organizer will go through the wash and dry cycle without removing the socks.
The pockets will fasten using plastic buttons, Velcro or washable zippers.
I thought of this idea because I have small children who have hundreds of small socks all over the place.
It is very time consuming in the morning finding the right pair of socks on top of dealing with everything else that goes on before the day begins.
My idea follows a new philosophy where the child comes home from school, takes their socks off, directly in this laundry sock pocket organizer, until it is full from the week.
This laundry sock pocket organizer is then placed in wash, then drying cycle. After this the laundry sock pocket organizer can be hung up on a door instead of a huge laundry basket. There is not looking , just go in to the pocket of the pair and there you go!

I have feedback from several mothers who love my idea. I have their written statements and have also paid for a professional search. There is nothing exactly like it out there.
I have read tis again and it is a good idea. SO there could be ten pairs of socks for instance?
better than this

This is an existing business. I'm sure Gordon will find his way here eventually and say the same thing. "CambrianHouse is for new ideas that haven't been developed or implemented."
Good idea ... but your already doing it. So - what are you looking for from the community ?
Hey Guys, thanks for the input. I am not doing this business, I have barely put up a website for the product. The website gives the illusion that I am already in business to try to get venture capitalist. I do computer consulting and am around a lot of wealthy people, some are inventors and what they have told me is do not try to be original, instead try to take what is already invented, and not selling , bring it to the surface again, it does not have to be a need , it can be a convenience item, or a gadget. They said look around in stores now, at the not so smart things that you would not buy, doesnt mean someone else is not buying it. There is success in the not so obvious.
in addition I showed mothers the sockpro , example above and they all hated that idea, the fact that they have to put holes in socks, and have to have plastic clips. The second example is just a laundry bag, my idea is more of a conveniance with the pockets, so that kids can come home, take off their socks, put them in the pocket, it goes through the wash cycle, then the dry cycle and never leaves its pair. I have mothers with kids who especially have small socks begging me make this.
Lobos, we're not a business directory. I appreciate you're just starting out with this yourself, but what are you looking for from Cambrian House community?
So this is an existing product which you are trying to sell via your own website? To become a distributor of? Is the plan people should come to your website and place an order for 3 or 4 sock-pocket-organizers?
I'm not sure this idea is appropriate for CH, but I'm curious to learn more about what you are trying to do.
Hi Gordon, actually I dont even have a proto type made of this. The product does not exist. The website I made is just a website trying to get investors to help further the idea. It is only an idea at this point. I wish I had this product made already .
In addition if I was selling this product I would definately have a shopping cart in my site. I invite anyone interested in being a partner. I might consider selling stock.
the other reason I made the website was to collect as much feedback from people, especially mothers who do laundry, as a feedback on what they thought of my idea and also as a way to prove that this was idea in case anyone wants to steal it. I have dated documents and hundreds of witnesses .
I believe crowd sourcing should be expounded well to other traditional spheres such as marketing and design... I know where you sit in..we are are like old dinosaurs now in the realm of techno driven industry like the internet...still the end result would put us all together which is be profitable from collaboration made across the boundaries.
Please PM me and check also some IDEA of Saigon notably eMemorialsite... it was conceived on the same formula you are addressing now. Putting together an existing product under new tool and business model which is via the internet.
-Joyce
Joyce, thank you! You are correct , physical products like ours are new to this site but can do very well in the department stores. Items likes ours can later on be licensed by places like Walmart, Target. So the earning potential is huge!
Lobos you may want to look at Joyce's TeeWrapz! idea perhaps you could market the two together for like an informercial style ... "Call in the next twenty minutes and we'll throw in an extra TeeWrapz! and 6 Sock Pocket Organizers !
When we were kids my mom made us use a product called "sock locks"
that was a few decades ago.
they are still selling them
they work great
Thanks LArsBell, I agree and they do, and again instead of instead of trying to be original at a concept or a product that provides a certain function I am mearly trying to change the design and philosophy of its use.
Just because someone has already invented the electric toothbrush doesnt stop other companies from changing the design so they customers buy their tooth brush. Can you imagine if companies stop redesigning products just because it has already been invented? We would be in the cave man days. The real test these days is what is selling in major stores like Walmarts and Targets. If its not in there, its not selling a lot and that means there is room to reinvent products! Just like creating websites for revenue, if its not getting millions of hits a month, time to go back to the drawing board. You either have success or room for improvement.
Lobos,
I'd suggest trying to create a cleaner looking site if you intend to process orders through it.
Maybe you can see them via eBay... this is the problem where there's competition in the product space, you don't have means to get your solution on store shelves. There's no prototype so all you can do right now is gauge how expensive it is to find customers, and see if its worth following through.
You could try create a Google AdWords campaign, and see if you can find one which is cost effective. I don't think this is a problem people would Google for an answer for. They'd just assume washing socks is an unsolvable hell and live with it. But maybe there are some parallels you can figure out. If they're searching for "green laundry detergent" (someone actually might), then their's your chance.
You'll have to spend a small amount to test your AdWords combinations, but its basically a wonderful system for finding out what works for very little money, then "cranking the dial".
Also this is a good chance to refine your website. AdWords can help you both track who clicks on your ads, and who immediately departs from your website once they get there because it looks sketchy.
After that, you could try create a viral video of some sort. But I wouldn't bother until you've tracked people who come to your site, and are sure that some people will actually click "buy".
Oh, and I'm voting down on your idea. Nothing personal, hope you succeed. Just not an interesting crowdsourcing project.
An idea looking for a solution to an irksome time waster - rematching socks that get separated every time they are washed.
Maybe two flat clips that are attached to each other - then the socks could easily be folded and put back into the drawer. If you can easily find the manufacturer that will make such clips you are in business!
I am voting up on this idea.
If you can easily find manufacturers of plastic products please contact me. I have a product I would like to have manufactured.
Joyce have her eyes on RFID on socks...i doubt if she will welcome this one lolz!
IdeaPower: many plastic and rubber products like the ones you mention for keeping socks together already exist (as others have mentioned in this thread, see socklocks and sockstars for example).
Lobos: Forgive me for being blunt but I don't see how this product is any different to the mini laundry garment bags already widely and cheaply available from supermarkets and lingerie stores.
They look exactly like what you are describing. How is your product different - is it just that it contains multiple zipped pockets in one zipped bag?
Got something to say?
