One of the toughest things about being a parent is figuring out how to keep the kids calm especially during the summers when they dont have school to amuse them. Even on my small island it's hard to keep track of all the possible events that could entertain the nippers. KidsFun is designed for parents to be able to log on, see events planned in their area, within a certain radius, with contact details. Past events? Whole social aspect as well for single parents ;) Collected information for each event would include: cost, safety, age limits, facilities (babychange/feeding/toilets/free diapers?), how to get there, where are the service stations/toilet breaks on the way and each of these items if qualified can give different scores and should also be searchable terms! ie I want a event next Saturday for a 4 yr old and a 2 yr old which has food onsite, is less than an hour away, with decent toilet breaks on the way. Lots of potential for mashup with online maps? mashup with calendars?
I thought of this when I, as a single parent, was searching the web for interesting things to do with my kids on my weekends. Having to trawl through dozens of sites was painful, contact information was sparse, directions were non-existent and most of the time I had no idea what sort of facilities would be available for the kids when we got there - what would happen if it was raining, where the nearest supermarket was, etc.
It has been done in my area:

I don't know how you scale the idea into all the areas. Keeping it up to date is a major pain.
I reckon it very much has to be a community site which will be updated by interested parents as uch as by the various tourist boards and associations.
I see it has been done though (Philadelphia Kids, Las Vegas Kids, San Francisco Kids, Boston Kids, Miami Kids, New York Kids) for major cities.
But....it seems done...why dont we polish it? Instead of Events do some funny things and try http://www.eshowmehow.com
check my business try for this...even if IDEAS are almost duplicated... polishing and submitting it first will save the dough(for profit) and keep our kids bonded with us.
