If I find 10,000 ways something won't work, I haven't failed. I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is just one more step forward.

The Idea

Bikeregister.com offers a great service to UK bike owners. They can register their bike, keep a log of repairs, get specialist tagging information, report stolen bikes and much more. I am suggesting the same concept for Australia. I suggest the following improvements on bikeregister.com * individual, family and trader accounts * Individual and family accounts: registering bike, keep log of repairs (with their repairer), receive email updates of special deals/offers in their area as well as alerts on stolen bikes, sell their bike (complete with history), police report if stolen, tagging information, unique ID # Trader accounts (e.g., bike shops, clubs): advertise (in email notifications), get information to local clients, alerts regarding stolen bikes, post deals, specials, sales, track individual clients through their log book, organize events Bikeregister.com is nice but a little flat visually. Australian version should target families as well, activities for kids

I thought of this idea when I was...

I want to start CH thinking about australian specific ideas as we are a little behind with regards to newer web technologies but very web-savvy. It is a ripe market over here! Cycling is very popular in Australia, with the "Tour Down Under" a big event worldwide. There is currently no bike registration service like this in Australia, but plenty of traders/individuals/families who might use it. Judging by existing services overseas, the price is not prohibitive for people to join.

And as long as you are creating the code, graphics and copy, write these to another server and put the same option for people in other countries who have bikes.
