Building on the idea of desktop quotcreaturesquot, I think it would be really cool if you could create your own desktop character that was a real person. You could quotdress upquot this character however you wanted. Then, instead of teaching it to fight you teach it how to dance. Once you've created and trained your quotdesktop dancerquot then you can do any of the following activities: * Dance-offs-live contests against other dancers * Beauty Contests-who has the hottest quotdesktop dancerquot * Record Dances-Submit a recorded routine that can be voted on by other users * Best Dance Move(like Best X Games Best Trick)-Record your best dance move and submit it to be voted on by other users * Hookup with Dancers-Just meet other people and dance with them(virtually of course) * This could also double as a media player for your desktop which stores and organizes your music. This really could build on a lot of the technology created by Gwabs, but it seemed like a unique enough of an idea to submit on its own
I'd been reading about Gwabs (http://www.gwabs.com/) and the possibility of a desktop character. Fighting bores me, but I've been addicted(like many others) to the reality show So You Think You Can Dance. Plus, I'm white and so since I can't dance in real life I might have a chance virtually.
Great idea. Reminds me of dancing in Second Life on your desktop, but looking at Gwabs it seems like you could create better dance moves on your desktop than you could in Second Life. Not to mention the response time on your desktop would be much better than Second Life. I could also see the recorded dance moves being replicated in real life and vice versa. A Britney Spears Fan could create a Britney look alike and replicate her dance moves.
Why the hell not?
I had been thinking that fighting is a little limited in audience.. you could have "dance fighting" -- a kind of combo.
Nice expansion!
This would be FUN!
Great idea. And building off of current technology is always a great way to save money.
I'm personally not much infatuated with dancing desktop creatures, or dancing for that matter, but I definately see it's potential and I know some friends that would enjoy it.
quick thought; would be cool to see a live webcamfeed on the head of an animated creature that is sitting/dancing on your desktop.
One other extension I just thought of for this idea is to create a social networking component. People that like the same type of music, same artist, or same song could meet and interact in an online forum. Of course they could have their own online "blog" or "space" which would allow them to post pictures or videos of their "desktop dancer" doing a cool move, etc.
Adding the social component creates added use for the desktop dancer since you can meet other people with the same interest and dance online and collaborate.
Unlike Gwabs users who want to destroy each other there could be a whole group of Gwabs "desktop dancers" that don't use the site to compete, but they use the site to socialize.
Although, I would still personally use the competing dancers since I have competition running through my veins.
It looks like some of the basic idea has been created and I think shows that there is a market for this type of product:

I think my idea adds in the ability to "train" the dancer to do certain moves. It also has the dance off feature which allows people to interact 2 desktop dancers.
Also, my website has gotten a couple searches for this type of product.
This is an awesome Idea it is
-interactive
-in an upcoming "hot" market
-marketable to "closet people"(the ones that love dancing only infront of the mirror)
-potential for a large amount of revenue for a long time
