The Idea

Monitor all of your web enabled appliances and devices via a single website. Set your light timers, record tv, adjust thermostat, preheat oven, enable/disable your alarm, etc...

I thought of this idea when I was...

Haven't seen such a service

This has been done...plus, you'd have to have buy-in from the vendors of all of these products. Others don't even have an existing interface (oven, thermostat) unless you've specifically purchased some that do.

Great idea, but the cost to upgrade your house to the level you have mentioned would be greater than the benefits at this point. Good idea for the future tough.

If you pay the premium, you can get this today.

By the way, the premium is mostly paid in installation and configuration labor, usually of the hobbyist doing the installs for themselves. The parts aren't exactly cheap (or reliable) either when compared to standard manual switches, thermostats, etc.
