Hello!

You've landed in the archive of the Cambrian House community. We've kept some pages here for posterity but the community is no longer active. Now we market the technology that made our early crowdsourcing a success.

Can we help you get to Cambrian House the company? – Come on over.

Cambrian House

The amount humans can achieve is directly proportional to the number of things we don't have to understand.
William McKnight, 3M

Cambrian House began as a crowdsourcing community using a wisdom of crowds based approach to discover new business and technology ideas. These pages are being kept online as a technology demo to showcase Chaordix™.

Looking to harness the power of your crowd? Find out about Chaordix™ - technology that enables enterprises to get the most out of crowdsourcing.

The Idea

NewsBid - a site where YOU post the latest news, photos of events and first hand accounts. News agencies around the world, large corporations, the public then have the ability to bid on exclusive rights for YOUR coverage. Found a breaking story? Got a video that the news agencies would kill for? Post a short clip and the full vid on NewsBid with a starting bid and/or a 'buy it now' price. Do the same with photos, first hand accounts of events, interviews, etc. The information is encrypted and only viewable by NewsBid members. Unsold items are bid on by brief descriptions, short previews and thumbnailed/watermarked photos. On purchase they are delivered in digital format and then deleted from the NewsBid databases, along with a legal contract ensuring exclusive first publication rights. Submitters and purchasers rated to ensure accuracy. Stories and photos can be stored indefinitely with the price dropping to a baseline.

I thought of this idea when I was...

Snowcrash. There's people who make a living off of selling news, photos, stories, interviews, stock photos, etc. on a pay per use and exclusive rights basis. We've got the technology now, with no warehousing needed and a very savvy, need-it-now-while-it's-hot news consuming public.
