The Idea

The website would be like a welcome page to the internet. You would log in and it would give you a personal homepage. The web page would have a variety of things on it, based on your personal preferences. It would have a daily joke, a daily embedded game based on what you like. You could put in your email accounts and it could tell you if you have mail. Also, it would have the days headlines and a stock ticker on it. You could use your preferences to add other things to it, like maybe book reccomendations or events for the area you live in. The point is to have one site that you can go to that has all these things embedded, a place that is just for you based on what you like. If you like webcomics, it could embed one and if you click it, it shows you more. If you like a team, it would have recent scores from the team and link you to their website. It has a bunch of different things that you like all in noe place where they are easy to find. Would be ad supported.

I thought of this idea when I was...

Bored and nothing to do. I didn't want to look around for games and stuff and wished there was a lot of things i liked or wanted to know all in one place just for me. I didn't want it to be a portal that you have to click through to find everything, it would all be right there. So I came up with a broad idea that you can add things to, like jokes or comics or games or new youtube videos based on prefeences and tags you said you like.

It would be similar, but it would learn your preferences, and find content that you wanted. For example, find stories from Digg or somewhere with the tags you like and update with a new flash game when you got bored instead of just Pac-Man or Hangman. It would be like Google Homepage, but tailored more towards what you like. Like it could have something at the bottom that said,
"Hey! We found a resteraunt that you might like!"
Or
"Guess what, that movie you wanted to see is playing at such and such tonight, here's a link to buy tickets."

among others. This was the first step in creating portals, and there was a rush of it in the 1.0 bubble (I think My Yahoo was one of the few to survive) and another rush in 2.0. Personally, I think the big boys can duke this one out.
