Hello!

You've landed in the archive of the Cambrian House community. We've kept some pages here for posterity but the community is no longer active. Now we market the technology that made our early crowdsourcing a success.

Can we help you get to Cambrian House the company? – Come on over.

Are you seeking crowdsourcing technology? – Check out Chaordix by Cambrian House.

Cambrian House

I think web 2.0 and CH are the missing link for ordinary people to contribute meaningfully in the new ways of creating wealth in this so called new economy.
Cycko, Feb 2007

Cambrian House began as a crowdsourcing community using a wisdom of crowds based approach to discover new business and technology ideas. These pages are being kept online as a technology demo to showcase Chaordix™.

Looking to harness the power of your crowd? Find out about Chaordix™ - technology that enables enterprises to get the most out of crowdsourcing.

The Idea

Creative Commons licenses are great (I use them all the time myself), but I'd also like to be able to sell my footage to businesses who can not use CC licenses. I would like to create a site which leverages all the existing CC hosting sites (such as Archive.Org and ccMixter.Org). So if a user (such as myself) wants to try sell their CC footage, they'd register the appropriate URLs with the RoyaltyFree site, which would then scape key words and allow user to submit additional key words. Downloading video or audio content could still come from the CC host site (maybe need an agreement so we're not strictly leeching). I also think this would help facilitate adoption of CC licenses since we're only concerning ourselves with content hosted on CC sites (which require content to be placed under CC license before hosting).

I thought of this idea when I was...

Trying to find stock footage of a lava lamp online, and only seeing copyrighted footage for hundreds of dollars. I could record and post footage of a stinking lava lamp and happily sell it for $0.25 a download, but don't have time to set up infrastructure.
