The Idea
Using clear Plexiglass sort of material for a top layer, with a layer made up of small pieces (1/2" square) of Electroactive polymers each attached to an LED light. then applying pressure to any area would cause it to generate electricity, thus illuminating the LED for that polymer square.
The effect would be that whenever a persons foot was on the floor it would be surrounded by a halo of lights... creating an amazing light show.
A similar idea would be to use large pieces of the polymer and actually capture the electricity and use it, thus reducing the amount of energy from environmentally unfriendly sources being used. Dancing for nature if you will.
I thought of this idea when I was...
