The Elevator Pitch

For all types of businesses who need specific short term programming, designing, editing ect jobs done for them the Cambrian House Outreach program is a service that allows Businesses to "hire" Ch users to do jobs over the internet and pay them as well. Unlike hiring new employees our product allows businesses to create teams and work with them so that they get their product, pay less money and never have to actually see the person..

The Idea

Cambrian House is a wonderful site and I love thinking of ways to make it better/ more efficient/ have more of an impact on society. Most of my ideas reflect this, just like this one...Since we have so many people on here, each with a certain area of expertise ranging from programmers to doctors to High Level Program Managers at Freescale, we should be pretty well rounded. Well lets take that knowledge and put it to good use. What If companies big and small could "hire" CH users to do jobs for them over the internet? Now I'm not talking about folding envelopes and making "thousands a month", I mean businesses will use Cambrian House as a portal to find people on the site who can do special jobs for them. For example, if a Company needs to program some crap for their product, but doesn't want to hire/ pay a programmer, they can come to Cambrian House and "hire" a qualified user to the same job for less. The only trade is that they would have to...

I thought of this idea when I was...

...wait a little while longer for their job to be completed and a smalle fee would be payed to CH for providing the service.

Businesses could create pages that resemble profiles, in the Ch style of course, that would list jobs and important information.

Payments could be tranfered either through paypal or cambrian house for those who wish to spend thier well earned cambros on the Stripping Goat for Charity Page (soon to come).

I thought of this while I was taking a shower, as odd as it sounds. I was thinking about the online startup thingy www.pwnce.com and what would happen if they needed something done, and if there was anyway I could help.

I like this one Patrick Jones.

I could also think of new website designs to be commented, etc. That would really take crowdsourcing to a new level.
After it's cambros that make the world go round...

Thank you,

What do you mean by the website designs and comments thing?

vanhees
vanhees Posted: July 4, 2007, 12:50 pm

Well programming is something, what I mean is like a sneal preview where you get to comment things before they are on the market.
For example new websites.

I don't think CH needs to be the middleman in the process, nor do they want to be (as I understand CH, anyway).

Your idea and tournesol's ebay for services are similar. But what I think is that this community has a lot of potential service sellers. Are there buyers out there, and will they pay the price, those are the key questions.

Imho this could work very well AFTER enough projects have emerged from CH to show that the community as a whole is robust and varied enough to provide quality services. Good idea but it may need time before it is ready to launch.

Isnt Angelic Crowd do some of the initial work you intend to do?
What exactly do you mean to pay less?

Patrick_Jones
Patrick_Jones Posted: July 7, 2007, 10:15 am

Well in a way we'd sort of be like cheap immigrant labor, no offense to anyone. Except we'll get paid alot more than that, just not as much as you would if you actually worked for the company.

how is this different than the Bazaar? maybe I'm misunderstanding your idea or the function of the Bazaar but I understand that it proposes to serve as the marketplace for this exact thing...

this is a very good website homepage concept...cambrianhouse.com...what if the company should get financial business assistance from the us.grants for starting up business capital
in all types of business endeavor...or ask financial grants from canadian grants like the us grant been doing.... giving help to from small to a very
large company up to 25 million dollars for large company...150-250 thousand to small and medium company....anyway grants is always free or if theres a payments its very small interest 2% per years...but grants is always free...diversified business is the key to
the growth of the cambrian house....thus the community prosper...
may be cambrianhouse may recieved 120m$$$ from us. grant...who knows.. to create jobs for the people...

bluelake Posted: July 9, 2007, 12:16 am

multi billion dollars is the budget for us grant every years... cambrian house should tap yhis opporunities.....to create diversified jobs for the people..yet only 10000 to 15000 a month is only applying for the us grants...us. grant should give the money to the people because its been approved by the congressand its the law ...to give money to the people every year to create jobs...and help people from alltypes of financial needs and problems...

Grants are more complicated than SAP or conditions to get a DOLE money from any institution or financial body even for NGO...perhaps you misinterpret the whole rationale of your comment.

are we really called Cambrians?

sounds pretty stupid

Patrick_Jones Posted: July 9, 2007, 5:51 am

hey scrollinondubs, i think you are missing some info. The Outreach program would be for businesses outside of the community.

jill
jill Posted: July 18, 2007, 7:51 pm

Patrick, I still think there is no need to involve CH (the actual company) as an intermediary here.

Maybe what you are proposing is like Doymarn's idea http://www.cambrianh...er/ideas-id/sB6as8s/
the Virtual Business Portal.

He has done a fair bit of work on it, I believe. Might be worth reviewing and maybe PM him to see what he thinks; he may already have solved a lot of the preliminary issues.

what do you want programmed?
the specs need to be defined

jill
jill Posted: July 20, 2007, 11:13 am

phaze, that is probably too narrow an interpretation of the idea.

This idea can extend to many activities.

There are a number of sites mentioned in the comments on the 'eBay for services' idea (elance, Rent-a-Coder...) that might be worth checking out as they seem to do similar things to what you're proposing.
