The Idea

lets small business to enter their check amount, payee to a website and print to their printer. The information is saved online and future printing. It moves from printing with desktop computer to web broswer. It replaces the check printer, desktop check software. A community of user can submit the check format for others to use or buy.

Also, let business to print barcode and product label online. Enter the barcode, product name and price, and label used. The web service will produce the label for printing on the browser. User can print large number of label without buying any thermal label printer. A community of user can submit label dimension such as Avery for others to use or buy.

I thought of this idea when I was...

what problem are you trying to solve?

You can get Avery label sizes and print templates on the Avery site. Printing a barcode is easy, do it with a label printer. Seems like adding a website between you and your normal label printing workflow isn't going to simplify or solve a problem.

Unless, of course, you don't have software to build a check. I'm a bit confused by this one...

thank you for your comments, they are very valuable to me...

reply to van

to answer your question, the problem i am trying to solve is to print large amount of barcode label. I do not have a barcode label printer, and most people or small business do not have a specialized zebra label printer. It costs about $300 to get a label printer just to print barcode.

by using standard A4 size sheet of labels sold in most officel suppliers, i can easily print lots of barcode using already available laser printer or inkjet that most people have.

Printing using label printer is expensive as you have to buy expensive original label and you can only print label one by one. For example, i sell shoes, and for each design, i have about 20 pairs of barcode to print, it will be easily and faster to print all 80 barcodes on a sheet of A4 size barcode. I already have it working in my retail shop, and will put it up for public as soon as possible for free at http://mobilepos.homeip.net/pos

To reply to dar,

Avery site is good for use but it does not have barcode ability yet. I think their focus is more on selling their label than to provide a solution for small business to print barcode online.

I do not have a check writing problem that i like to use. There will not be any check writing software if check writing can be done as a web service. By letting other developers to use the check writing, it can be used in other online accounting problem to print check, maybe.

Hi there,

Just incase it is of any interest to you, a while back i managed to find a british labels company who were selling <a href="http://www.selfadhesivelabels.com/plain.html">plain labels</a> at a really low price. If you are at all interested then it may be worth taking a look at their website for more information.

If I understand correctly, you are going to have people print checks out? Under current banking practices (in the U.S., anyways), the little numbers at the bottom of the check are printed in magnetic ink so that the specialized machine knows they're not fake. That ink is not readily available to the public and is incredibly expensive. So the check part doesn't sound feasible.

As for the barcodes, I know that you can use a laser-jet printer to print scan-boxes for UPS shipping, and that you can make other personal bar codes in Microsoft word and other applications. So I'm not sure the website thing i going to pan out. Sorry.

yong54321, it sounds like 2 distinct problems you're trying to solve, even if you envision them both being offered in same software package. Printing labels seems solved and available. Chq printing sounds impossible as Nickonomics101 points out.

I assume you are running a Windows POS system? As far as label printing, do you just need a hand finding appropriate software?

sounds like a feature of crm or just a web shop portal... or ebay

but it could be a nice feature

I also do not really see the problem being solved. There are lots of bar code printing services avlaible and heaps of print service providers Kinko etc who will accept jobs by www / email.

In addition I do not see cheques being around in five years - even in the USA.

Most major UK retailers are no longer accepting cheques, their time is passed.

Actually I print checks on blank check paper sheets and haven't had any refused yet by my bank in the US. I use a regular inkjet printer - no magnetic ink - either.

I don't see what problem is being solved here either to be honest. Most desktop software will already do this and a web solution seems to be trying to solve a problem that doesn't really exist.

hi thank you everybody for their comments...

As for check printing, i am printing the amount and payee name on the pre-print check provided by the bank. Someone comments that check is running out of date, can anyone enlighten me how should a business pay their vendor without check?

For barcode printing label, there may be lots of service available on the net... can anyone name me some popular job shop that i can compare their price? Do they print the barcode label and mail to the buyer? It seems to me that label printing software is currently for specified label printer and label, there are like the zebra designer, but they are only for small expensive label printer. I am doing a web browser output label that could print on any cheap printer A4 size, and i do see that the web browser can also print it to the small label printer too.

regards to all...
