Poker TV Show
Hi below is my idea for a new No limit Texas Holdem Poker based television show, where amateur players compete for the lifestyle of a poker pro through a series of challenges.
The Idea
Each week players/contestants must compete against each other, for there right to be crowned Poker rookie/idol. They do this by competing in several single table tournaments under the guidance of their poker pro mentor, who each week along with the public decides who is eliminated. Until only 12 players remain, where they play a league based format putting into practice all that they have learned. To be crowned poker rookie/idol and winning a year in the life of a poker pro i.e. :WSOP, WPT, EPT etc.
Stage 1
All players/contestants qualify for the television show on-line through a poker site. A maximum of 60 players can qualify.
Stage 2
After qualifying the players/contestants are split into six groups of ten. Each group is assigned a poker professional to give advice, coaching etc. Within their groups they play eight games of poker. Where each week the poker pro eliminates who he/she thinks is the worst player. He/she must choose one of the first three players knocked out. This could also be adapted for a public vote. Where the public can also choose who is eliminated. To keep things interesting for the remaining players the winner can not be voted out next week even if he/she is in the bottom three. The number of players able to be voted out would decrease as the players decreased. This would continue until only two players are remaining from each of the six pros groups.
Stage 3
Each player/contestant is required to play six times in a league/points based format, after which the leading four players would advance to the final table. The players/contestant in fifth to eight place then played off in heads-up matches to qualify for the two remaining seats at the final table. The more points you accumulate in the six games the more chips you take to the final table. Were the winner takes it all.
Trying to live the lift of a poker pro and getting no where fast
