The Idea

If you are at the scene of a news-worthy event, make a video mobile call and 'report' from the scene. Recording is archived and offered to news outlets (the same way blogburst offers blog content). Ultimately this could be done 'live'. Website provides architecture for storing, categorizing and promoting news-worthy video mobile calls. Regular 'reporters' are automatically generating a portfolio of reports for use in gaining employment. As the quality of video mobile increases, 'mobile reporters' will be able to report much greater variety of content such as travel reports, weather reports and covering local events. Subscribers to site will be able to access content on their own phones, that is, be alerted to news worthy events in their area. Kind of like a video-mobile version of digg.

I thought of this idea when I was...

watching a news show and seeing people from the story being interviewed. Wondering what it would have been like if they had caught it on camera.

i like the idea of "raw" footage, unedited like Max Headroom.

Yes I could see someone like a news version of YouTube picking this up. You'd probably need a credibility or editor system for it though.
