The Cambrian House Crew
Mistakes will be made. But if a person is essentially right, the mistakes he or she makes are not as serious in the long run as the mistakes management will make if it undertakes to tell those in authority exactly how they must do their jobs.William McKnight, 3M
Cambrian House began as a crowdsourcing community using a wisdom of crowds based approach to discover new business and technology ideas. These pages are being kept online as a technology demo to showcase Chaordix™.

For People who are looking for an alternative to social networking sites the virtual scape is a room that has stuff that is of interest the user tied in together, so for example writing on the walls (flikr, yahoo photos), diary (Blogger), and the kind of music that a person likes. All of this information can be perused from that VR scape by their friends. Unlike static social networking sites and the expanse of Second Life our product will offer a unique twist to social networking. By just building a virtual room where existing products are linked to and tied together. So think VR and Social networking (but on a minor scale).
Social Networking has to evolve. But not everyone wants to fly around in the vastness of quotsecond lifequot just to network with a fellow human being. However you can take elements from quotsecond lifequot and incorporate them into a social networking website as such. ----IDEA---- my idead combines the two. i.e social networking with a virtual scape perspective. But instead of the vast expanse of quotsecond lifequot, this would simply be a room. Users are connected with each other based on their existing list of friends or friends they wish to add to their list. - Once you are in each others friends list, users can peruse each others cribs a.k.a virtual space - Users decorate their room, but instead of the painstaking process of creating everything yourself (like in second life) you get 1000 base point to buy stuff from quick access control panel. (Drag and drop) - For creativity's sake users can design their own items too - Similar interest are linked together
---drinking tea--- idea contd: - using existing technologies and infrastructure and incorporate them into the virtualdom instead of re-creating everything = youtube, digg, blogger, myspace - Users purchase multi media which their friends can peruse (stream). Also users aesthetic tastes in everything from arts, entertainment , media et all can be displayed. - user controllable list access, of who is allowed to enter into their room and browse which belongings [a] of that user as such. [a]: The belongingst part is key here. This is what will generate the moola.
man i'm sick of social networks.
the whole reason i joined the internet is to be UN sociable :)
How is this different from Second Life?
different from second life in the sense that this does not encompass a whole Linden city
Users get one room and one room alone leased to them. And that one virtual room combines various elements
for example, if you want to peruse the user's musical taste, there will be a section in the room as such whereby you can go through the users music collection. in that regard a collaboration could be implemented in btwn RIAA/Itunes et all, whereby any music you purchase would also be available for streaming from your virtual room for other users to stream.
There will be virtual extension to various other things, for example the user clicks on your "virtual diary" and a link opens up to your blog on blogger or myspace.
The user clicks on your family pic being displayed on the wall and it loads up flickr or msn/yahoo photos in a browser
Let your imagine let loose. Anything the user wants to share with the people on their list can be incorporated in this virtual space.
So this will be more of a venue to get to know the person more, than actual social networking itself. But I have ideas to incorporate the social networking element into this (completely) as well
