The Idea

Taken from the term, Still Point Of The Moving World. This would be a cyber-space coffee house with tables for two. The beauty of it is that when you log in, you are directed by random to chat with someone, could be anyone anywhere on the globe and only paying members can make a second connection with that really cool whoever that was they enjoyed chatting it up with so much. Translations of course. Everyone wants to talk to someone. Most people are discouraged when they enter a chat room. You say things that get no reply or someone says something rude. With this service you speak one on one with somebody who is ready to listen. At the still point boundaries will desolve. You can learn of far away places you never knew existed from people who live there, or get things off your chest. NOT JUST FOR SPEED DATING. Don't enjoy the conversation? Just simply click the next button. I would bet almost anyone would enjoy this experience and nearly all of them will eventually buy it

I thought of this idea when I was...

This idea is dedicated my late friend, CHRIS WHITLEY. Who, by the way, if nobody hipped to you the memo, was this generations JIMI HENDRIX. In other words stop whatever you doing now and listen to the man. chriswhitley.com Anyhow, I thought of this idea when I was praying no one else had.

If you simply make it a dating site.....random dating like that has taken off in real life, so why not online?

I didn't vote the idea. I voted for Chris Whitley, and Trixie.
Ever seen houbi.com/belpop/groups/nohrodeo.htm ?

Dude you invented the chat room. To bad the whole chat room thing was covered by people years ago.

I understand the necessity of the 'next' button but at the same time I worry that if you're not careful this will end up being little different to a conventional chat room experience. I can imagine sitting at my coffee table and having to put up with a succession of frustrated teenagers, cyber-perverts and non-talkers before I finally meet the one other person in the room who's out for a sensible conversation.

Would be interesting to try though!

Perhaps you can match up people based on some attributes to increase the liklihood that the two people will want to talk to each other - because they have something in common. In other words, you log into the chat room and a queue of people is organized - and these people have something in common with you. I like the "next" button. How many times have I wished I could just get up and leave a conversation in the physical world but couldn't?

Well I've seen chat services that let you drop into "random" rooms. Maybe you can set up an expectation on everyone's part that it will be civil, which random rooms might currently lack. I wouldn't personally be interested in such a service, so beyond asking you to compare your service to an existing chat room service I don't have any suggestions.

I like it. What about having a quick 2 or 3 question survey or something to direct you to people of like interests? With just a random person it could take a while to get somebody that you want to talk to.

What about making it topic based... That way there is something to chat about. I think without a topic or general interests being matched it would be hard to make a good match. It also depends if someone wants to speak with someone who thinks the way they do or if they would rather have a civil debate. I myself would go into a chat room to spark a debate... For instance, I would lead in with "I love Satan". This does not go over well in a christian chat room, but the athiests cheered. But after I explained my point and said that Jesus would want me to love satan I turned the room around and confused the whole lot of them. Just a thought!
