Summary
Having been a non exec director myself, and my recent experience in the job market, both convince me that this idea will work. Many boards have non exec directors who perhaps only work for a company for 2-3 days a month. Why should this be limited to those at director level? Surely the breadth of experience a non exec brings is relevant at every level of a company? My other experience has been when job hunting as an IT manager. Organisations think they need a manager, then change their mind and can't justify one full time. So it's all or nothing as there seems to be no part time IT management positions below board level. So create the part time job market: A site where people post their skills and available time per week and interested companies bid for a certain time commitment per week or month in return for a salary. So if one company couldn't afford a full time IT manager, maybe I could work for a basket of companies and split my time between them. After all, directors do it
