On a busy Friday night at the hottest restaurant in town, the hostess takes your name and then hands you a pager. Not only do these pagers cost restaurants a lot of money, but they also spread germs! How horrible, right? Well there is a perfect replacement for the restaurant pager and its in your pocket. No, not your grocery store receipt. Your cell phone!
My idea is to have customers give restaurants their phone numbers and when a patron's table is ready a program will send them notification via text message.
Would you be hesitant to give your phone number out? Once a number has been notified of its table-readiness, it could be deleted from the system.
