Summary
Investment firms and banks begin retailing investments at convenience stores right beside the lottery tickets.
So I could walk in and instead of buying $10 worth of lottery tickets I could buy $10 worth of a mutual fund etc. (branded appropriately for John Q Public), register it online and be further ahead.
I would want to research the psychology of the consumer to see if a low-risk low-payoff investment can compare with a insane risk insane payoff (lottery ticket) in a retail environment. Lottery tickets are irrational, so would a rational choice appeal?
You could also add an element of fun to it by having a chance to win something (i.e. a 1 in 10 chance of double investment) or having the nature of the investment be a surprise (scratch off area reveals that you invested $10 in high-tech/latin America/Europe/Bonds/Blue Chips). The idea is to add a bit of sizzle with the sense
Also, it is a complete unknown whether financial securities can be purchased this way....yet
