Many people have seen wiki fiction - but it doesn't seem to work as well as wiki nonfiction such as wikipedia. The idea has potential.
People come up with clever paragraphs, but not always great plots, partly because the ground rules usually involve adding sentences. Nobody has incentive to work really hard on a story, since nobody will have ownership over the completed product.
This might work pretty well with fan fiction, especially of the copyright owners agreed to a limited amount of universe sharing in exchange for publicity and or user fees.
We should start with something similar to a writers workshop, where everyone uploads something not publishable yet. This first upload would serve two purposes, to demonstrate skills and seed collaborations. A part time professional editor could award whuffie to everyone doing anything helpful. 'Experince points', recognition, and other zero cost rewards could be given to many people - with money for actually sucessful writing.
