You haven't seen pollution till you travel to large cities in India and see the soot and smoke coming out of millions of loud auto rickshaws. Auto rickshaws are small gasoline powered three wheel motorcyle taxis. Although they provide a great service in transporting millions of people daily at very low rates I feel their benefits are outweighed by the amount of pollution they generate. The emissions from these machines do not seem regulated. I am convinced that rather than investing millions in designing Hybrid Luxury SUV's,environmentally conscious individuals should focus on creating a hybrid, electric, or hydrogen fuel cell auto rickshaw. Auto rickshaws are the perfect vehicle for testing such technology - They are small and light, they are part of a large fleet and can therefore obtain their fuel from central government owned stations.
