National Post on Crowdsourcing

Today’s National Post had a feature article on crowdsourcing (unfortunately you need a subscription to read :( ). Still it’s super cool to see the term coined by Jeff Howe in Wired catch with old school media. I have seen better researched articles (they don’t mention iStockPhoto and they seem to think crowdsourcing is only about getting feedback from customers) but at least they are talking about it.

Great opportunity to follow up with the reporter and do some education. They’re usually willing to retool the concept and do a profile - especially if it gets them another article printed. Why not “Crowdsourcing in Calgary is Exploding” as an angle? You’ve got great visuals - let them know (goat, google pizza, iStock content, etc) it’s what they crave. The Calgary biz magazine cover with iStock will lend current credibility to the pitch.
