I think more people would read from computer screens if the software was easier on the eyes. It has usually been though that software just needed to magnify or provide space and contrast around words in order to make reading from a screen enjoyable. This is part of the problem, but I think there needs to be a function that simulates reading with a pen or pencil. Sure, we can follow sentences along with the mouse cursor, but it really isn't the same. We should be able to set up a type of highlighter function that can be controlled with the arrow keys. This way our eyes will have a better guide for reading. Also, this function would need to work on .pdf files that are essentially photo copies too. So if there was a way to set the size of the highlighter function, we could set it over the top of the pdf image. Also, a function that allows us to quickly underline text with the arrow keys would be nice too instead of clicking and dragging.
