Mistakes will be made. But if a person is essentially right, the mistakes he or she makes are not as serious in the long run as the mistakes management will make if it undertakes to tell those in authority exactly how they must do their jobs.

Your project can benefit from a wiki.

I offer it.

You have nothing to pay. No machine, network, hosting, setup, administration, debug, backup, anti-hack... forget about those darn bits and bugs to concentrate on your very contents and community.

Your site has to be redacted in English or French, as a public (anonymously-readable) wiki. Writing can be restricted. The content may be free or not, but in such last case you will cope with the jokers using it illegally.

You will have to tolerate advertising on your wiki. For now this is a simple small Google AdSense block in the upper right corner. We will negotiate our respective parts, because... yep, you will earn a share of those gains. If your project seems cool to me my share can be pretty low. there is no cheat between us, as everyone will be able to check the deal: our respective AdSense IDs will be directly used in the published banners. We will be able to block unwanted announcers.

You are not my hostage and there is no strings attached. You keep the domain name, I can also offer (cost: 0, this is often useful at the beginning) something along the 'yourprojectname.discu.org'. You can download a complete dump of your data, every day. This way you can leave overnight with a standard set of data compatible with a standard software, immediately ready to be used elsewhere.

The software used is Mediawiki, the one used by Wikipedia. It is animated by a pretty serious cluster. To show its raw power I publish a mirror of Wikipedia French and English... all history included (no images, though, because some are not mirror'able due to the incredible variety of their licenses)! This mirror is slower than your future site because there is no cache (Wikipedia is huge, I don't want to keep it in the database AND in a cache for the rendered HTML. We are speaking of a multi-terabyte online server setup there, this is not cheap), but it demonstrates the worse processing time.

Check http://jargonf.org/ (French ahead!) to appreciate the ads and performance of a real site.

The front-ends (webservers) are in Europe, if there is enough interest I may manage a way to deploy new ones in other continents.

Feel free to ask.
